Antoine Banks, chair of the UMD Department of Government and Politics, and Ismail White, Professor of Politics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, have a new book coming out!

The Anger Rule: Racial Inequality and Constraints on Black Politicians is available for pre-order. In The Anger Rule, they argue that Black politicians are uniquely penalized for expressing anger, and that this constraint limits their ability to mobilize voters against existing racial hierarchies.

Please order your copy of the new book here

Antoine's first book Anger and Racial Politics: The Emotional Foundation of Racial Attitudes in America can be found here.

Ismail's first book Steadfast Democrats: How Social Forces Shape Black Political Behavior can be found here.

Join us to celebrate the event at the Politics and Prose bookstore in the Northwest DC location, and Congressman Glenn Ivey will be moderating the book discussion.

A reception will precede the event at The Den, the bookstore's cafe. We hope that you'll be able to join us!
