Kathleen Cunningham is the current graduate placement director and offers information sessions each semester on academic placement, as well as individual appointments for students planning to go on the job market.

Preparation for apply to jobs includes:

1. Notifying your Ph.D advisor and other letter writers (typically by June or July the year you go on the market)

2. Compiling you C.V.

3. Writing a cover letter

4. Writing a reserach statement & compiling teaching materials (syllabi and course evaluations)

5. Writing a teaching statement

Interfolio Service

The Department has contracted with the Interfolio service to help you manage the paperwork involved in applying for jobs.  Upload your documents, request letters of reference, and have your portfolio delivered through Interfolio. The Department pays the registration and regular U.S. mail fees—ask the Director of Placement Services for the Special Code.  Students manage the entire application process through this service. The Director of Placement Services has administrative access to all accounts.
