Is a blue wave coming? GVPT Professor Kris Miler says maybe not.

With the midterm elections approaching, Democrats and analysts are discussing the possibility of a “blue wave.” But Kris Miler, a professor of government and politics and expert on congressional representation, cautions against counting Republicans out, particularly in states with strong Republican bases.

In an interview with Maryland Today, Miler previews five key congressional races in Texas, Kansas, Ohio and New York. She discusses how factors including affordability, candidate backgrounds, partisanship and presidential endorsements could influence the results.

Miler also points to Georgia as an early indicator to watch on election night. A closer-than-expected Senate race there, she says, could signal a more challenging night for Democrats nationwide.
