A number of GOP strategists have argued that adopting socially conservative stances on abortion will drive Hispanics to vote for Republicans in 2020, but a new editorial from professors Stella Rouse and Janelle Wong published on the Morning Consult argues this might not be a winning strategy. They examine recent polling from the Public Religion Research Institute and find that, while Hispanics are "distinctly conservative" on abortion issues, "Trump continues to be unpopular among this group" and the issue does not generally drive vote choice for most Hispanics.
