Candace Turitto

The Department of Government and Politics is pleased to announce the promotion of Candace Turitto to Senior Lecturer.

This promotion recognizes Turitto's outstanding contributions to the department through her teaching, mentorship, and service, as well as her continued commitment to student success.

At GVPT, Turitto serves as Director of the Applied Political Analytics (APAN) Program, where she prepares students for careers in politics, campaigns, public opinion research, and data analytics. She teaches courses in American politics, campaigns and elections, public opinion, political behavior, and political methodology.

Before joining academia, Turitto managed more than a dozen state legislative campaigns, staffed a presidential campaign in Iowa, and consulted on political data, polling, and television advertising for campaigns across the country. She came to academia to better understand the connection between political science research and political practice.

Turitto's research examines political persuasion, campaign advertising, and public opinion, including how high volumes of political information influence persuasion, the consequences of candidates changing positions on political issues, and how voters respond to elected officials who lie.

Please join us in congratulating Candace Turitto on this well-deserved promotion.
