The latest report of the University of Maryland’s Critical Issues Poll compares new, 2026 data to data going back to 2015 to discern trends in prejudice over time; both the extent to which prejudice has become more widespread across the population, and the extent to which prejudice has become more intense.

The report also measures change in how Americans define antisemitism, and the extent to which they differentiate attitudes against Jews and Judaism from attitudes against Israel and Zionism.

"Perceived levels of prejudice against Jews and Muslims are higher than toward any other religious, ethnic, and racial group studied," said Anwar Sadat Professor for Peace and Development Shibley Telhami, director of the poll. "However, favorable views of Muslims and Islam remain much lower than toward Jews and Judaism and have declined among Republicans to their lowest level in the 11 years since we began polling on this issue."
