  • Giancarlo Visconti Receives 2025–2026 Elmer Plischke Annual Faculty Research Award
Giancarlo Visconti Assistant Professor

GVPT Assistant Professor Giancarlo Visconti has received the 2025–2026 Elmer Plischke Annual Faculty Research Award, which recognizes a faculty member whose research portfolio has led to major and important publications.

Visconti studies comparative political behavior in contexts of insecurity and social change, with a regional focus on Latin America. His research examines how issues such as crime, migration and uncertainty shape political attitudes, ideology and accountability among citizens and political leaders.

This year’s award recognizes Visconti’s impressive research productivity and scholarly impact. In 2025, he published work in several leading journals, including The Journal of Politics, Journal of Peace Research, Research & Politics, Comparative Politics and Latin American Politics and Society. His recent publications explore topics such as immigration and crime perceptions, anti-immigration attitudes, ideological identity, protest exposure and public attitudes toward corruption.

Congratulations to Professor Visconti on this well-deserved recognition.
