GVPT Alumnae Serving on Prince George's County Council Featured in The Diamondback
In a recent article in The Diamondback, Wala Blegay, GVPT '06 and Wanika Fisher, GVPT '10 —both daughters of African immigrants—shared how their heritage shapes their work and their commitment to inclusion.
Blegay, who represents District 6, draws from her Liberian and Nigerian roots to engage African community leaders and promote broader civic participation.
Fisher, who represents District 2, credits her family’s history of activism during apartheid and her experiences at UMD with inspiring her path in public service.
