  • Jennifer Wallace Appointed Associate Director of Faculty Initiatives In The Provost's Office
Jennifer Wallace

The Department of Government and Politics (GVPT) congratulates Dr. Jennifer Wallace on her appointment as Associate Director of Faculty Initiatives in the University of Maryland's Office of the Provost. She will transition to her new role on August 9.

Although the department will miss Wallace, her appointment reflects years of leadership, teaching, and service to GVPT.

At GVPT, Wallace directed the Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) program and taught courses in comparative politics, international relations, development, environmental politics, and conflict studies.

Wallace has long emphasized experiential learning in her teaching, leading study abroad programs in Ecuador, Malawi, and Italy focused on food politics, development, and environmental policy. Her research focuses on the relationship between environmental change, natural resource management, and conflict. As part of her doctoral work, she conducted field research in Vietnam's Mekong Delta with support from a Fulbright grant and the University of Maryland's Program for Society and the Environment.

Before joining the University of Maryland, Wallace worked at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy in Switzerland, where she coordinated training programs as part of NATO's Partnership for Peace initiative.

In her new position, Wallace will join the Office of the Provost, where she will help oversee policies and procedures related to PTK faculty and support faculty initiatives across the university.

The department thanks Dr. Jennifer Wallace for her years of leadership and contributions to GVPT and congratulates her on this well-deserved appointment. We wish her continued success in her new role.
