Celebrate the finalists of the 2026 Sadat Arts for Justice and Peace Competition!

We are delighted to invite you to a truly unique, inaugural event for the Sadat Arts for Justice & Peace Reception, an evening celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the power of the arts to shape conversations around justice and peace. The event will include food and drinks as well as showings of short films, musical performances, poetry readings and art displays.

Co-sponsored by the Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace & Development and Arts for All, this program brings together the Colleges of Behavioral & Social Sciences and Arts & Humanities, highlighting exceptional student work across art, music, film, and writing.

  • Location: Atrium, Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center
  • Date: Monday, April 20
  • Time: 5:00–8:00 PM

The Atrium will be transformed into a vibrant showcase featuring award-winning submissions from this year’s program. Throughout the evening, guests will experience:

  • Visual art exhibitions
  • Short film screenings
  • Live poetry readings
  • Musical performances

Passed hors d’oeuvres will be served as you explore the space, connect with fellow attendees, and celebrate the remarkable artists and creators whose work rose to the top. Special guests will join us in honoring their achievements.

This year’s theme is inspired by the words of former President Jimmy Carter:

“In our democracy, the only title higher and more powerful than that of president is the title of citizen. It is every citizen’s right and duty to help shape the future legacy of our nation.”

The Sadat Arts for Justice & Peace Program builds on a tradition that began in 1998, evolving from a collaboration between the Sadat Chair and the Department of Art into an annual, interdisciplinary celebration rooted in timely themes of justice, peace, and civic engagement. The program is a partnership with Arts for All, the Department of English, Department of Music, and Cinema and Media Studies.

We hope you will join us for this special evening of art, reflection, and community.
