CDCE Hosts One of the Region’s Largest Public-Sector Career Fairs

Chincoteague Hall and greenery

On April 16, 2025, the Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement (CDCE) hosted one of the region’s largest public-sector career fairs at the Silver Spring Civic Building—drawing over 1,200 job seekers, dozens of government employers, and a vibrant mix of students, alumni, and professionals from across the DMV.

Whether attendees were federal employees recently displaced or individuals exploring new opportunities in the public or private sectors, the event was designed to help them move forward with confidence.

Participants connected directly with employers from local and state governments, as well as the private sector. They discovered essential tools and resources to help navigate career transitions, explored job opportunities in policy, administration, and elections, and engaged in real-time networking with hiring managers and other professionals.

The day also featured personalized support from career coaches, resume feedback, and guidance on how to market skills effectively. Workshops and discussions provided practical advice on staying resilient and managing the stress that often comes with job loss or career change.

It was a powerful day of public service and professional momentum. Thank you to all our partners, including the Maryland Department of Labor, WorkSource Montgomery, Work for America, and WSSC Water, who made it possible.
