Juan David Gelvez (he/him) is a Ph.D. candidate in Government and Politics at The University of Maryland, College Park. His research interests focus on political behavior, crime, and environmental politics in Latin America. His research has a computational approach: impact evaluations, survey experiments, and spatial analysis. Before starting his Ph.D., Gélvez-Ferreira worked as a researcher at Universidad de Los Andes and Fundación Ideas para la Paz in Colombia, his home country. Also, he led the citizen security group at the Departamento Nacional de Planeación at the Colombian National Government. Gelvez holds a master's degree in Public Policy and a bachelor's in Government and Public Affairs from Universidad de Los Andes.
