Schneider, Mary Kate
Bio
Mary Kate Schneider is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests focus on national identity, conflict, and peacebuilding, and her regional specialization is in Southeastern Europe. She has won numerous nationally competitive fellowships, including a Fulbright award, and her research has been supported by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, among others. She has conducted extensive field research in Bosnia-Herzegovina (2012, 2013, 2014) and Kosovo/Serbia (2007), and is currently completing her dissertation, which addresses the effects of divided education on post-war youth in Bosnia-Herzegovina. She teaches courses on comparative politics, international relations, peacebuilding, globalization, and nationalism and ethnic conflict, and in her spare time enjoys running, photography, and horseback riding.
