Caroline Dinkel: Editor-In-Chief - MAIR ‘25
Caroline Dinkel is a second-year student in the Master of Arts in International Relations (MAIR) program at the University of Maryland. On campus, she has conducted research with the Center for International and Security Studies, the Center for International Development and Conflict Management, and Government & Politics Department. Caroline currently works with UMD's Applied Research Lab for Intelligence and Security and has gained professional experience through internships with the Department of Defense, U.S. Congress, and Maryland regional political offices. She has also studied abroad in Israel and Palestine, where she explored the regional conflict and its impact on local communities. After completing her degree with MAIR, Caroline plans to attend law school, specializing in national security law and crisis management.

Simon Younes: Finance Director - MAIR ‘26
Simon Younes is a Masters student studying International Relations. His academic interests revolve around the effects of globalization, global justice, and international organizations from a cosmopolitan philosophical perspective.
Ethan Paul: Editor - MAIR ‘26
Ethan Paul is a first year MAIR Student from Silver Spring Maryland. As an undergraduate student of the University of Maryland, he majored in Government and Politics with a minor in Global Terrorism Studies. Ethan additionally was a peer mentor for the First Year Innovation and Research Experience. He enjoys conducting archival research and reading about American and World history.


Jordan Bellamy: Editor - MAIR ‘25
Jordan Bellamy is a second year MAIR 4+1 student with a particular research interest in human rights abuses. They also currently work at the National Science Foundation (NSF), supporting federal funding for research projects globally. As an undergraduate, Jordan was fortunate to spend a semester in Amsterdam, where they were able to have social, political, and cultural dialogues with peers in a large international context.
Daniel Golzari: Editor - MAIR ‘25
Daniel Golzari is a second-year MAIR student at the University of Maryland. After graduating with a BA in World Politics and International Relations from MGIMO University in Moscow in July 2023, he moved to the United States to pursue his Master’s degree. During his undergraduate studies, he had written several research papers on topics such as the Iranian nuclear program; U.S.-Iran relations; as well as recent political and economic rapprochement between Russia, Iran, and China. In his first year of graduate studies, he interned at the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) in Washington, D.C., working on projects that included research on Hamas tunnels, propaganda tools used by Hamas and Hezbollah, and the Russia-China relationship, among other topics.
Currently, Daniel is a research assistant for Professor Jacob Aronson, where he codes a comprehensive dataset on battles occurring in conflicts from 1989 to the present. In addition, he tutors at UMD’s Language House, helping students to get accustomed to Russian language and culture. Fluent in Russian, English, and French, Daniel also has a basic knowledge of Persian. As a second-year MAIR student, he is focused on understanding how sanctions impact the stability of authoritarian and rogue regimes. After graduating, he plans to gain experience with think tanks, international organizations, or NGOs, with the potential to further his education and research in the future.


Madeline Kershow: Editor - MAIR ‘25
Madeleine Kershow is a stand-alone student in the MAIR program, having graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a BA in International Relations. Her undergraduate thesis focused on the IMF's effectiveness in improving sustainable development in aid-recipient countries. Last semester, she completed a Graduate Fellowship with the United Nations Association National Capital Area (UNA-NCA), where she gained practical insights into the UN's mechanisms. Her current research focuses on climate-induced displacement and sustainable development strategies to mitigate climate change. Madeleine is passionate about using her expertise to address complex global challenges and contribute meaningfully to sustainable solutions.
Ben Fried - Undergraduate Member
Ben Fried is an undergraduate freshman from Atlanta, Georgia. He is majoring in Government and Politics with a planned focus in International Relations. Before attending UMD, Ben was Head Art Editor of Embryo, The Westminster Schools' annual art and poetry publication. He also interned at Burnaway magazine where he shadowed executive director Brandon Sheats. Currently, Ben is participating in the First Year Innovation and Research Experience (FIRE) where he is studying methane emissions on campus.


Sage Ware: Editor - MAIR 25'
Sage Ware is a second-year MAIR student with an interest in civil conflict studies. She also graduated from UMD with a BA in Government and Politics. During her undergrad, she interned with the Department of Defense at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling and on Capitol Hill as an intern for Representative Steny Hoyer (D-MD 5th District). Sage served as a research assistant for Dr. Sharon Harley in the African American Studies Department, compiling biographical research on civil rights activist Nannie Helen Burroughs. Currently, Sage is an intern for the Department of Health and Human Services.
