Trevor Norton: Chief Editor - MAIR ‘24
Trevor Norton is a 2nd year MAIR student. In 2023, Trevor completed his undergraduate studies, earning a Bachelor's degree in Government and Politics (High Honors) with a concentration in International Relations. His primary interests are Comparative Politics and International Relations, with a particular focus on topics such as democratization, democratic backsliding, state compliance with international organizations, and polarization. He has published works in the MAIR Journal, such as Compliance or Defiance: Analyzing State Behavior in International Organizations and Agreements. He has also authored work analyzing the link between legislative polarization and democratic backsliding (Congressional Sabotage: The Impact of Legislative Polarization on Democratic Health) and is working to publish a paper analyzing Gorbachev's role in the dissolution of the Soviet Union (Glasnost, Perestroika, and the Fall of the Wall: The Role of Gorbachev’s Reforms in the Termination of the Soviet Union and the Cold War).
Outside of BORDERS, Trevor Norton serves as a Graduate Assistant (GA) within the College Park Scholars- International Studies Program and has researched topics on International Relations with Dr. Jacob Aronson. He has previously worked for U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (MD) on the foreign affairs and defense portfolios. In the Spring of 2023, he also defended an Honors Thesis for the University of Maryland Government and Politics Honors program, earning High Honors.
Anna Bychkova: Finance Director - MAIR ‘24
Anna Bychkova is a 2nd year MAIR student. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Government and Politics with a Concentration in International Relations and minors in Spanish and Sustainability. In her time at UMD, she was involved in programs such as Global Fellows and Honor Humanities. This summer she was working with Professor Allee as a research assistant working on a project on US-China trade. She also has experience working at the Maryland General Assembly and several non-profits, including the NCD Partnership, Climate Institute, and Luminus Network for New Americans. In her free time she loves to dance, cook, and try out new classes or events in DC. In the future, she hopes to work in the private sector on global environmental politics in Washington, D.C..
Caroline Dinkel: Marketing Director - MAIR ‘25
Caroline Dinkel is currently in her third year at UMD. She is a History and International Relations double major as well as a master's candidate in Maryland's MAIR program. In her sophomore year, Caroline completed the Justice and Legal Thought Scholars program, where she studied the intersection between law and social justice. During her winter semester, she studied abroad in Israel and Palestine, investigating the regional conflict and its impact on inhabitants. On campus, she is involved with the Student Government, History Undergraduate Journal, and Empowering Women in Law group. She is also currently conducting research with the University of Maryland Center for International and Security Studies, where she is investigating White House decision-making during the Trump Administration, specifically as it relates to foreign policy. After graduation, she plans on attending law school. Outside of her academic and professional career, Caroline loves reading, writing, embroidery, and going to the gym.

Olivia Haring is a second-year MAIR student from the Annapolis, Maryland, area. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in 2023 in Government and Politics with a concentration in International Relations and had minors in Spanish and International Development and Conflict Management. Marzieh Kazemi: Editor - MAIR ‘24
Marzieh Kazemi recently graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Politics and a concentration in International Relations. As a second-year MAIR student, Marzieh is interested in issues of international organizations and Middle East relations. She has experience working on campus, both as an administrative assistant and as a teaching assistant, and experience in government and corporate settings for the office of U.S. Congressman Steny Hoyer and Boland Trane, respectively. Born and raised in Montgomery County, she enjoys reading fiction and poetry and finding new places to eat in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) areas. After graduating, she hopes to work in the NGO field or conduct research on her interests.
Charles Tuttle: Editor - MAIR ‘24
Charles Tuttle is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park, where he received his Bachelor's in both Government and Politics with a concentration in International Relations, as well as Public Health Science in 2023. He is currently a second-year MAIR student, where he is pursuing his research interests in United Nations peacekeeping and International Organization death. He has experience in state-level government as a legislative intern for the Maryland General Assembly and is tentatively set to serve in the Peace Corps as a Volunteer Youth/Adolescent Health Promoter in Paraguay. In his free time, Charles enjoys playing video games, watching international horror cinema, and cheering on his favorite Baltimore sports teams.
