The Department of Government and Politics is proud to announce that GVPT student Ashley Gitau has been selected as one of the six recipients of the Dr. Rocky Lopes '80 Endowed Scholarship for Leadership. This scholarship, established in November 2021, recognizes undergraduate students who demonstrate a commitment to leadership within a student organization by being elected to, currently serving, or having completed a term of leadership such as Chair, Vice Chair, President, Vice President, or Committee Chair, on a registered student organization.
Ashley is an active leader on campus. She is the Vice President of Ignite, a club dedicated to empowering women to take on leadership roles and get more involved in politics, and the Mentorship Director for the Health Law Society. Additionally, she is a Rawlings Undergraduate Leadership Fellow, a member of Phi Alpha Delta, and part of University Honors. Ashley’s dedication to leadership and service will undoubtedly continue to shape her path as she prepares for a future career as an attorney.
Congratulations to Ashley for this well-deserved honor!
