GVPT Professor Stella Rouse and doctoral candidate Nicholas Miras have written about their forthcoming research in an op-ed for The Washington Post. In the article, they discuss how state governments under the control of the Republican Party are likely to react to federal policy handed down by the newly inaugurated President Biden, the narrow Democratic House majority, and the tied Senate (controlled by the Democrats thanks to Vice President Harris' tie-breaking ability). Our department's two researchers write that "we can expect Republicans to push back in states that they control."
