Professor Kathleen Gallagher Cunningham and Ph.D. student Caitlin McCulloch discuss the impact of violent versus non-violent tactics of non-state actors has on foreign public support of the government opposition. In their new article at Political Violence @ A Glance, they highlight protestors in Hong Kong who have managed to garner international support for their cause. Cunningham and McCulloch introduce a forthcoming article, co-authored with UMD doctoral student Stephen Arves, where their experimental research shows that non-violent tactics increase foreign support for the opposition. For more detailed information on the research and implications, read the full article: How Opposition Tactics Impact Foreign Public Opinion.
