In their recent piece in the Conversation entitled How Hispanics Really Feel About Trump, Professors Rouse and Telhami bring empirical evidence challenging Donald Trump's recent claim via tweet that over 50% of Hispanics in the country support him. Drawing on survey data from the Critical Issues specifically targeting the Hispanic population in the US, they show the opposite. They further dig into the partisan breakdown of Hispanics' opinions and conclude that even if Trump were to secure the Hispanic Republican vote, this would not constitute 50% of the overall Hispanic vote.
